CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Laurent Rivard scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures for Harvard en route to a 74-69 victory over Monmouth (N.J.) on Wednesday night.
The Crimson (8-3) were 19 of 40 from the field (47.5 percent), including 8 for 17 from 3-point range (47.1 percent). But it was their work at the free-throw line that earned them the victory.
Harvard made 28 of 35 free-throw attempts (80 percent) as the Hawks, who have lost four straight, committed 26 fouls.
Monmouth (4-9) outshot the Crimson from the field, going 23 for 47 overall (48.9 percent) and 12 of 21 from 3-point range (57.1 percent).
The teams traded leads 22 times and the score was tied on 11 occasions.
