CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Cameron Wells scored 22 points and The Citadel defeated Chowan 67-53 Friday.
Wells, who on Dec. 23 supplanted Regan Truesdale as The Citadel's all-time leading scorer, also had six rebounds and three steals. The Bulldogs beat the Hawks for the third time in as many meetings since they first played in 2003.
Quinton McDuffie had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Chowan (1-7), but he was the Hawks' only player in double figures.
Mike Groselle's 10 rebounds helped The Citadel win the battle of the boards 49-32, which compensated for the Bulldogs' poor shooting. They made only 22 of 56 from the field (39.3 percent), but that still proved better than Chowan's 34.5 percent (20 of 58). Groselle also had eight points.
