    MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Tremaine Butler scored 13 points off the bench and Alabama State came back to beat Grambling State 50-47 in Southwestern Athletic Conference action Thursday night.

    The Hornets (4-11, 1-1) made only three field goals (3 of 20) and shot 34.8 percent from the free-throw line (8 for 23) in the opening half, trailing 28-15 at halftime.

    Grambling State stretched its lead to 15 with 19:44 remaining in the second half. But Alabama State outscored the Tigers 35-19 after the break.

    Justin Patton scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Tigers (2-12, 0-2).

    Alabama State shot 43.5 percent (10 for 23) in the second half and held the Tigers to 6-of-21 shooting (28.6 percent).

    Grambling State finished 14 for 47 from the floor (29.8 percent) and committed 20 turnovers, leading to 20 points for the Hornets.
