HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Julian Boyd scored 34 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Long Island to a 97-89 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday night.
Boyd scored 21 points in the opening half as the Blackbirds (14-5, 6-2 Northeast Conference) shot 54.1 percent from the floor (20 for 37) to take a 54-39 halftime lead.
The Knights (4-14, 2-6) closed it to 59-55 after a layup from Kamil Svrdlik with 14:20 left to play, but that was as close as they would get.
Both teams combined to score 90 points in the paint, with Long Island holding a 46-44 edge. The Blackbirds also shot 81.1 percent from the free-throw line (30 of 37).
