HAMPTON, Va. -- Wesley Dunning scored the first six points of overtime for Hampton in a 70-66 win over Delaware State on Saturday night.
The Pirates (16-5, 6-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) outscored the Hornets 13-9 in the extra period, starting with Dunnings' points, which were his only tallies of the game.
Hampton, which used a 12-3 run to take a 52-48 lead, led 56-50 with 1:52 left in regulation. The Hornets scored seven straight to go up 57-56 with 31 seconds remaining in regulation. Darrion Pellum made one of his two free throws with 15 seconds left to force overtime.
