PORTLAND, Ore. -- Tim Douglas scored 26 points to lead Portland past Saint Mary's (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today) 85-70 on Saturday.

Saint Mary's (18-4, 6-1), coming off Thursday's 73-71 victory at Gonzaga, was looking to close the first half of the West Coast Conference season without a loss. But Portland (16-6, 4-3) is 12-0 at the Chiles Center this season.

After a close first half, the Pilots blew the game open by outscoring the Gaels 27-2 right after halftime. Douglas, a freshman guard, had 10 points during the run that put Portland ahead 60-33.

The Gaels answered with 13 consecutive points, six by Mickey McConnell, to cut the gap to 60-46. Saint Mary's got within eight before Portland pulled away.

McConnell hit five 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 32 points for the Gaels. Jared Stohl had 21 for Portland, hitting 5 of 7 from the 3-point line. Portland was 13 of 20 from behind the arc.
