PHILADELPHIA -- Khalif Wyatt scored 18 points and Temple withstood a late rally by La Salle to earn a 71-67 victory Wednesday night.
The Owls (16-5, 6-2 Atlantic 10 Conference) won their third in a row and snapped the Explorers' three-game winning streak. La Salle (11-12, 3-5) made a late charge, but came up short.Temple led 61-47 when Lavoy Allen hit a jump shot with 3:17 left. But Aaric Murray hit two 3-pointers and Sam Mills made one to lead the Explorers' 20-10 charge, which ended on Earl Pettis' jump shot with 1 second left.Allen and Scootie Randall added 14 points each for Temple,Murray led La Salle with 22 points, while Mills and Tyreek Duren each scored 13 apiece.La Salle enjoyed a 40-29 advantage in rebounding, which translated into 13 extra field-goal attempts. But the Explorers didn't capitalize on that advantage, making the same number of shots as the Owls (25).
