CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Trey Sumler hit a free throw with 1 second remaining and Western Carolina survived a Chattanooga rally to win 69-68 on Friday night.

The Catamounts led by 14 points at 55-41 with 11:29 to play, but the Mocs went on a 25-11 run to tie the game at 66 with 1:02 remaining.

Two free throws by Mike Williams gave the Catamounts the lead at the 30-second mark, but the Mocs tied it at 68 on a layup by Ricky Taylor with 12 seconds to play.

Williams scored 22 points and Sumler added 15 for the Catamounts (12-13, 8-5 Southern Conference), who won their third straight game.

Taylor led the Mocs (14-12, 10-4) with 14 points, DeAntre Jefferson added 13 and Jahmal Burroughs 10.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed a day because a flu outbreak forced Chattanooga to quarantine four players, according to the Mocs' website.
