ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Charles Corbin had 11 points and 10 rebounds and scored the go-ahead basket with 47 seconds left to lead Winthrop to a 61-56 victory over Liberty on Thursday night.
Corbin hit a jumper to give the Eagles (13-15, 9-8 Big South Conference) a 56-55 lead and they held on to end their three-game losing streak and send Liberty (19-11, 13-4) to its third consecutive loss.
Corbin's third free throw in 15 seconds gave Winthrop a 59-56 lead with 19 seconds to play and the Flames' final two possessions ended in a turnover and missed 3-point attempt.
There were seven ties and seven lead changes.
Winthrop had only nine turnovers and outscored Liberty 18-3 on points off turnovers.
