Hampton 71, Delaware St. 64

DOVER, Del. -- Kwame Morgan scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half and Hampton held on to defeat Delaware State 71-64 on Saturday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Darrion Pellum added 13 points and Charles Funches had 12 for the Pirates (20-8, 10-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who reached 20 wins for the first time since going 26-7 in 2002.

Hampton shot 53.8 percent from the floor (14 of 26) in the opening half en route to a 35-31 halftime lead.

Marques Oliver gave the Hornets (9-18, 5-10) a brief lead, 39-37, on a jumper with 18:25 remaining, but Delaware State would trail the rest of the way.

Desi Washington scored 15 points, Casey Walker added 14 and Oliver 12 for the Hornets, who have lost six straight and 10 of their last 11 contests.

Hampton remains two games behind MEAC leader Bethune-Cookman (18-11, 12-3) with two regular-season games left.
