WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Joe Zeglinski scored 22 points and Hartford defeated New Hampshire 62-54 Sunday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The victory gives the Hawks (10-19, 7-9 America East Conference) the sixth seed in this week's conference tournament and a berth opposite third-seeded Maine. The Wildcats (12-17, 6-10) lost their third in a row and fell to the seventh seed, which means they will play second-seeded Boston University.Hartford outrebounded New Hampshire 42-32, led by Morgan Sabia's 10 boards, and held the Wildcats to 35.3-percent shooting (18 of 51). The Hawks, who led 31-23 at halftime, built their lead to 18 points on Clayton Brothers' 3-pointer with 12:22 left. The final margin was as close as the Wildcats came.Tyrone Conley and Brian Benson each led New Hampshire with 16 points, and Benson added 15 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
