OREM, Utah -- Patrick Mitchell made two free throws with a second remaining and North Dakota beat Houston Baptist 65-63 in the Great West Conference tournament semifinals Friday night.
The third-seeded Fighting Sioux (18-14) advanced to Saturday's championship game to meet the winner of South Dakota and top seed Utah Valley. The tournament winner will get a bid to the Collegeinsider.com postseason tournament.Houston Baptist (5-26) tied the game with 5 seconds to play when Andrew Gonzalez made three free throws. Gonzalez led all scorers with 24 points. The Huskies were 10 for 10 from the free-throw line with Gonzalez making eight.Troy Huff led North Dakota with 16 points. Mitchell scored 14, Jamal Webb had 11 points and Derek Benter had 10 points and eight rebounds.
