CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Kodi Maduka scored 16 points and added seven blocks as Tulsa defeated Western Kentucky 65-49 on Thursday to open the Charleston Classic.
The Hilltoppers (1-2) had few answers for the 6-foot-11 Maduka or his equally tall teammates for the Golden Hurricane (3-0), who started two 6-11 players at TD Arena. D.J. Magley had 12 rebounds, while Maduka and Steven Idlet had seven boards apiece.
Tulsa took control with a 19-5 first-half run and weren't pressured the rest of the way, stretching the lead to 23 points near the end.
Tulsa will take on either LSU or Northwestern in the eight-team tournament on Friday.
