FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Raymond Taylor led five Florida Atlantic players in double figures to help the Owls pull away from George Mason 80-75 in overtime on Saturday night.
Florida Atlantic (2-3) led 38-37 before going on a 19-8 run to take a 57-45 lead with 5:47 left in the second half. But George Mason fought back, tying the game 66-66 at the end of regulation. Florida Atlantic outscored George Mason 14-9 during the overtime period, scoring eight of those points in the paint and six more off second chance opportunities.
Florida Atlantic outshot George Mason 47.3-45.3 percent but the Owls lost the rebounding battle 42-33.
