MONROE, La. -- DeAntra Scott scored 24 points and Harding upset Louisiana-Monroe 71-68 on Saturday to win its first regular season game against a Division I opponent.
Harding, a Division II team, defeated Southeast Missouri State -- a D-I squad -- 68-63 on Nov. 7, but the game between the two was an exhibition.
Harding held a 62-50 lead with 5:29 left in the second half when Hayden Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer. The Bisons had trouble pulling away from Louisiana-Monroe, as the Warhawks cut the lead to 68-65 on Fred Brown's 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining.
But Harding was able to hold on as Weston Jameson made a couple of free throws down the stretch to help top the Warhawks (0-5).
