CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Rashad Hassan scored 19 points and Savannah State shot 87.5 percent from the field in the second half to defeat Gardner-Webb 72-66 on Saturday.
The Tigers (2-5) hit 14 of 16 shots from the field, including all 13 attempts inside the 3-point arc, to overcome a one-point halftime deficit in the second game of the Hoosier Classic Chattanooga Bracket.
Hassan scored 11 of his 19 in the second half and also had seven rebounds.
Arnold Louis had 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. The Tigers had a 44-20 advantage in points in the paint.
Gardner-Webb (2-5), which lost its fourth straight, closed to 52-49 on a Stefon Johnson jumper with 8:42 left. Savannah State took control from there with an 8-0 run to go up 60-49 on a Preston Blackmon 3-pointer with 5:33 to go.
The Bulldogs would get no closer than five the rest of the way.
