GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Alec Brown had 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks as Green Bay held off Loyola of Chicago 57-47 on Saturday night.
The Phoenix (4-4, 2-0 Horizon) opened the game on a 20-5 run, led 32-12 at halftime, and extended that advantage to as many as 23 points in the second half.
Loyola chipped away at the lead, getting within 52-45 on Joe Crisman's jumper with 52 seconds left. But Green Bay hit 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Walt Gibler had 18 points and Ben Averkamp 14 for Loyola (1-6, 0-2), which shot 48 percent from the field in the second half after hitting just 26 percent in the opening period. The Ramblers have played six of their first seven games away from home.
