DAYTON, Ohio -- Devin Oliver had 12 points, leading five double-figure scorers for Dayton in a 72-68 win over South Carolina-Upstate Sunday.
Dayton has now won back-to-back games, including a 74-62 win Wednesday over No. 16 Alabama, after dropping two straight.
The game was close throughout, but a pair of Oliver free throws capped a 16-6 Dayton run for a 69-60 lead with 1:19 to go. But the Spartans put together an 8-1 run of their own to pull within two points with just 5 seconds left on Torrey Craig's layup.
The Spartans then immediately fouled, but Williams stepped up and knocked down both foul shots for the Dayton win.
The teams were tied 32-all at halftime, but Dayton outscored SC-Upstate 40-36 in the second half.
Craig led SC-Upstate (6-4) with 21 points.
