KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Mike Douglas scored 15 points and Western Michigan gave back nearly all of an 11-point lead in the last 3 minutes but hung on to beat Winthrop 60-55 on Tuesday night.

Nate Hutcheson scored 10 points and Matt Stainbrook had 14 rebounds for the Broncos (4-7), who have won three in a row.

Andre Jones' 13 points paced the Eagles (4-8), who dropped their second straight.

Western Michigan led 52-41 with 3:02 to go before Winthrop reeled off eight straight points and trailed just 52-49 with 1:13 left.

Demetrius Ward's layup pushed the Broncos back up 54-49. But with 21 seconds to go, Stainbrook was whistled for personal and technical fouls, and Jones made 3 of 4 free throws to cut it to 54-52 with 21 seconds left.

However, the Broncos hit six straight foul shots to seal the victory.
