DENTON, Texas -- Chris Jones scored 21 points, dished out 10 assists and fell one rebound shy of a triple-double as North Texas emerged from a halftime tie for an 87-65 victory over Troy on Saturday.

Jones fell one rebound short of the program's first triple-double since 1993. There were only six such efforts in the NCAA this season entering Saturday's play.

He scored in double figures for the eighth time in the past nine games. It was the fifth time he had scored 20 or more points this season.

Jordan Williams scored a career-high 19 points for North Texas (8-7, 1-1 Sun Belt West), including three 3-pointers. Niko Stojiljkovic contributed 10 rebounds, helping North Texas to a 47-36 advantage.

Troy (5-8, 0-2 Sun Belt East) got 13 points from Emil Jones.
