Columbia 66, Colgate 59

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Meiko Lyles scored 21 points and Columbia used a strong defensive effort in a 66-59 win at Colgate on Wednesday night.

It was the third straight win for the Lions (10-5), who have won 10 of their last 11 games.

In a game close throughout and tied 29-all at halftime, the Lions opened up a 50-44 lead in the second half after Noah Springwater stole the ball and tossed it to Blaise Staab for a breakaway layup for his only points with 8 minutes left.

But the Red Raiders fought back.

Colgate's Mike Venezia connected on a long 3-pointer to cut the lead to one. But Brian Barbour made four free throws in the final minute and Lyles made two with 3 seconds left to ice the game for the Lions.

Pat Moore scored 18 points to lead Colgate (5-9).
