CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Brandon Sebirumbi scored 15 points as Furman built a 14-point second-half lead and held on to beat College of Charleston 69-63 Thursday night, posting the Paladins' first win on the Cougars' home floor since the 1952-53 season.

Furman (10-10, 4-5 Southern Conference) snapped a nine-game skid against Charleston (12-8, 4-5), which lost its third straight game.

The Paladins led 31-25 at halftime, then back-to-back 3-pointers by Bryant Irwin and a Chris Toler jumper made it 39-25.

Still trailing 41-27, the Cougars went on a 9-2 run, with Antwaine Wiggins scoring five consecutive points.

After Furman regained a double-digit advantage, Charleston closed to 67-61 with 56 seconds left. The Paladins then held on despite shooting 2 of 8 from the free-throw line as the Cougars missed four 3-point attempts.

Andrew Lawrence led the Cougars with 15 points, making 2 of 10 3-pointers, as Charleston shot 4 of 23 from long range.
