ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Matt Dickey scored 22 points as UNC Asheville defeated Radford 88-62 Saturday to clinch the No. 1 seed for the Big South Conference tournament.
After Radford took an early 10-4 lead, a layup by Dickey started a 21-4 run for the Bulldogs (19-7, 14-1) that gave them a 25-14 lead with 9:49 remaining in the first half.
The Bulldogs increased their lead to 42-24 at halftime, then started the second half with an 8-2 run for a 50-26 advantage.
Jaron Lane finished with 14 points and J.P. Primm 13 for UNC Asheville, which has won six games in a row and 13 of its last 14. Dickey was 10 for 10 on free throws, after making 29 of 32 in his previous three games.
