MONROE, La. -- Freddie Goldstein hit a layup with 32 seconds remaining to lift South Alabama to an 88-86 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Goldstein, who scored a career-high 33 points, tied his own school record with nine 3-pointers and was 10 of 17 from the field. His only two-point basket was the game-winner.

Louisiana-Monroe missed six shots in the final 16 seconds and South Alabama's Augustine Rubit sealed the win with a block in the final second. The Warhawks led by 13 points in the first half and neither team led by more than five in the final 12 minutes.

Mychal Ammons added 14 points, Dallas Jones had 12 and Rubit 11 for the Jaguars (16-7, 4-5 Sun Belt Conference), who have won four of their past five games.

Fred Brown scored 28 points and Hugh Mingo added 14 for the Warhawks (2-23, 1-11), who lost their eighth in a row.
