DOVER, Del. -- Casey Walker scored 17 points to lead five Delaware State players in double figures as the Hornets defeated South Carolina State 82-71 on Thursday night.
Delaware State (15-13, 12-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which was coming off a 73-72 loss to Morgan State, has won 11 of its last 13.
Marques Oliver added 16 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, while Amere May chipped in 15 points, Jay Threatt 12 and Tahj Tate 11. The Hornets used only seven players and all had at least one point and one rebound.
Delaware State never trailed, leading 41-30 at halftime. The Bulldogs (5-25, 0-16) got within five on two occasions in the second half, the last time at 45-40 with 16:19 left, but Walker answered with a 3-pointer and Tate dunked to pull away.
