SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Mike Glover scored 19 of his 29 points in the second half, when Iona pulled away for an 87-63 victory over Marist on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.
The top-seeded Gaels (21-6) led just 35-33 at halftime before taking control by shooting 69 percent (20 of 29) in the final 20 minutes. Glover, who averaged 28 points in Iona's two regular-season wins over Marist, scored six points in a 12-2 run that gave the Gaels a 51-38 lead with 15:08 remaining.
The eighth-seeded Red Foxes (14-18) were led by 25 points from Chavaughn Lewis, but Devin Price, who came in averaging 13.9 points, was held to three, taking just three shots in 35 minutes of playing time.
Scott Machado had 18 points and eight assists for Iona, which will play fourth-seeded Fairfield in the semifinals Sunday.
