Syracuse in Trouble?
Top-seeded Syracuse beat No. 16 seed UNC Asheville by just 7 points on Thursday. That doesn't bode well for the Orange's prospects in the tournament.
Of the 11 previous No. 1 seeds to beat a 16-seed by single digits in the round of 64, four lost their next game -- 1996 Purdue, 1990 Oklahoma, 1986 St. John's and 1985 Michigan.
Of the seven that didn't lose their next game, only three -- 1986 Duke, 1989 Illinois and 1997 North Carolina -- reached the Final Four.
