BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Corey Allen Jr. scored 19 points and Victor Rudd helped spark USF in the second half in a 75-61 win over Bowling Green on Friday night.

Allen scored nine in the final eight minutes of the game for USF (3-0). Rudd had only three points in the first half, but finished with 16 points. Rudd made a 3-pointer, and Allen converted a three-point play, to help the Bulls maintain their lead in the second half.

"Victor Rudd really set the tone in the second half," USF head coach Stan Heath said. "He came out and really became aggressive. He gave us a nice little cushion."

Allen and Rudd were a combined 8-of-11 from the field in the second half as USF shot 62.5 percent from the field (15-of-24). For the game the Bulls were 27-of-46 (58.7 percent) from the floor.

Bowling Green was still within 10, 65-53, when Rudd made a 3-poitner with 6:39 left in the game.

The Falcons then cut USF's lead to 68-60 with 3:44 remaining when Allen converted his three-point play after grabbing a rebound.

There were six ties and three lead changes in the first 20 minutes as USF led 35-28 at the half. John Egbunu scored 12 points in the first 20 minutes for the Bulls.

"I thought we set the tone early, we sustained the lead," Heath said. "Johnny Egbunu had a coming-out party; he was fantastic. He controlled the middle, he was great inside."

The game was tied at 27 with 2:19 left in the first half, and then USF closed the half on an 8-1 run. Allen hit a 3-pointer in the run.

The Bulls also turned in a solid defensive effort, blocking seven shots and holding BG to a 23-of-64 effort (35.9 percent) from the field, including 4-of-17 (23.5 percent) on 3-pointers.

Jehvon Clarke led Bowling Green (1-1) with 17 points, 12 in the second half. However, Clarke was only 6-of-24 from the field, including 2-of-7 on 3-pointers. Spencer Parker added 11 points for the Falcons and Richaun Holmes scored 10 and had a team-high seven rebounds.

USF also had a strong outing on the boards, outrebounding Bowling Green, 43-36, as Egbunu had a game-high eight rebounds and Allen finished with seven.

It was the 200th career win for Heath.

"To win on the road is not easy," Heath said. "We played for 40 minutes," Heath said.
