NEW ORLEANS -- Jay Hook poured in 31 points on 10 of 16 shooting to pace Tulane over Jackson State 70-65 on Saturday.
The Wave build an 11-point lead with 3:54 left in the first half on Hook's long 3-pointer and subsequent layup. But an 11-3 run by Jackson State closed the gap to three points at the half.
Tulane pushed its lead to 12 after a Hook trey and a pair of made free throws by Payton Henson, but the Tigers roared back to take the lead at 60-59 with 3:16 left on a Nobles free throw.
Tulane then made 9 of 12 free throws to ice it.
