Jim Donnan Tulsa's win over Fresno State was no upset. QB Paul Smith and WR Ashlan Davis really delivered in the Liberty Bowl and are difference-makers for the program. The Golden Hurricane defense executed well in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Steve Kragthorpe has done a great job at Tulsa. Timing is everything -- and Tulsa made all the big plays at all the right times in the 2005 Liberty Bowl. The Golden Hurricane relied on an opportunistic defense and a balanced offense to clock Fresno State 31-24. QB Paul Smith's fourth-quarter TD pass to Ashlan Davis keyed Tulsa's first bowl win since 1991. Story

Nelson Coleman picked off Fresno State's Paul Pinegar with 2:01 left. RB Tarrion Adams followed the interception with a 32-yard sprint to help the Golden Hurricane run out the clock.

Game Ball Goes To …

Tulsa's balanced offensive attack. Adams rushed for 102 yards and a TD. QB Paul Smith threw for 234 and a score. WR Ashlan Davis contributed eight catches for 129 yards and one TD.

2. Tulsa picked off two Fresno State passes in the fourth quarter. The first led to the go-ahead score. The second sealed the win.
