Houston, Kansas to meet in Fort Worth Bowl
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Houston and Kansas will meet in the Fort Worth Bowl on Dec. 23, officials announced Sunday.
It will be the second time in three years that Kansas (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) has made a bowl appearance.
Houston (6-5, 4-4 Conference USA) is 0-2 against Kansas, including a 20-13 loss in Lawrence, Kan., on September 23, 1995.
Kansas finished the regular season with a 24-21 overtime win over Iowa State, while Houston ended its regular season beating Rice 35-18.
"We could always feel like we could do better, but we have done enough to get in a bowl game for the second time in three years, which hasn't happened around here since 1980-81. To me, that's a pretty good accomplishment," Houston coach Art Briles said. "I am proud of our guys. I am proud of going into the bowl game with a winning record."
The matchup is scheduled to be televised on ESPN.
