Nebraska, Michigan to square off in Alamo Bowl
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska will play Michigan in the MasterCard Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28, the Big 12 Conference announced Sunday.
The Cornhuskers (7-4) and Wolverines (7-4) haven't met since the 1986 Fiesta Bowl, which Michigan won 27-23.
The Alamo Bowl, played in San Antonio's Alamo Dome, will be televised on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. CST.
Nebraska is back in a bowl after missing postseason play last year for the first time since 1968. The Huskers' last bowl appearance was in the 2003 Alamo Bowl, where they defeated Michigan State 17-3 to finish a 10-3 season.
The Huskers also played in the Alamo Bowl in 2000, defeating Northwestern 66-17.
Michigan has played in the Alamo once before, losing to Texas A&M 22-20 in 1995.
Nebraska and Michigan have met five times, with Nebraska's only win coming in 1962. The Wolverines lead the series 3-1-1.
