Senators bet wine, roses on outcome of Rose Bowl
WASHINGTON -- Wine and flowers are on the line in a bet over the outcome of the Rose Bowl.
Top-ranked USC will face No. 2 Texas on Jan. 4 in Pasadena, Calif.
The friendly wager is between Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
Hutchison is a University of Texas graduate and former cheerleader for the Longhorns.
If USC wins, she'll send Feinstein a bottle of Texas wine and a bouquet of red roses.
"The Longhorns will stampede USC and return home as national champions," Hutchinson said.
If Texas wins, Feinstein will send Hutchison a bottle of California wine and a bouquet of yellow roses.
"The yellow rose of Texas will turn cardinal and gold after the Trojans get through with the Longhorns," Feinstein said.
