Hokies' Williams ejected during Gator Bowl

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Virginia Tech's Jimmy Williams was ejected for bumping an official in the first quarter of the Gator Bowl on Monday.

Williams, a senior cornerback who had only one interception this season but caused opponents to throw away from him, was upset after Louisville scored on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Cantwell to Joshua Tinch.

Williams ran into an official after the extra point, was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and then ejected. He remained on the sideline for a few plays but was eventually forced to leave the field.

The Hokies were penalized two other times on the drive. Chris Ellis was flagged 15 yards for roughing the passer, and then Noland Burchette was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct after he celebrated a hard hit that left Cantwell with a bloody nose.
