NAVY vs. BOSTON COLLEGE
ESPN'S TAKE
Mel Kiper This game was all about Navy's defense, which did a real good job. Matt Ryan is a gunslinging quarterback with a heck of an arm. He's going to be a future standout in the NFL, and the Navy defense contained him. I thought Navy's defense did a good job all game. Really, the offense let Navy down. The Midshipmen's offense had a chance to put this game away. If they got one more first down, the game would have been over, but unfortunately they had a holding penalty that set them back for a third-and-15. BC had no timeouts; you have to run the play. You run the play, the clock runs down, you punt. Well, they fumbled the ball away on a pitch, gave BC the ball at Navy's 45-yard line. So the Eagles had a short field, got down to the 20-yard line, kicked the field goal and won the game. BC really stole a victory based on that mistake Navy made on that third-and-15.
