B-1B bomber to fly over Phoenix stadium Monday
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- An Air Force B-1B bomber will do a flyover of University of Phoenix stadium just before the start of Monday's national championship game between Florida and Ohio State, officials at Luke Air Force Base said Saturday.
The big four-engine strategic bomber is one of the noisier jets in the Air Force inventory. Officials at Luke said they issued a public alert so residents in Glendale and west Phoenix won't be alarmed at the sight and sounds of the jet.
Four F-16 fighters are set to fly over the stadium at 3:40 p.m. Monday to start the pre-game festivities. The B-1B Lancer will make its appearance at 6:30 p.m., as the National Anthem is winding down.
