CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami quarterback Jacory Harris still has a sore thumb on his throwing hand, although he will play when the Hurricanes (No. 15 BCS, No. 14 AP) face Wisconsin (No. 25 BCS, No. 24 AP) in the Champs Sports Bowl.
Harris said Tuesday the end-of-semester break made him believe the thumb was improving, but pain returned on the first snap he took when Miami began bowl practice. He was hurt against North Carolina on Nov. 14 and continued playing, though the thumb was wrapped for the Hurricanes' final two regular-season games.
The exact injury has not been revealed. Harris does not know if he'll need offseason surgery.
Harris threw 17 interceptions during the regular season for Miami (9-3), tied for the most in the nation. He also completed 59.9 percent of his passes for 3,164 yards and 23 touchdowns.
