Notre Dame senior wide receiver Duval Kamara did not make the trip to El Paso, Texas, for Friday's Sun Bowl against Miami for "personal reasons," a school spokesperson announced.
Kamara played a pivotal role for the Fighting Irish when injuries sidelined Theo Riddick and T.J.
Jones. He started four of the team's final five games and registered three touchdown receptions combined in victories over Utah and USC.
Kamara, the biggest member of ND's receiving corps at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, set two Notre Dame freshman receiving records (both broken in
2008 by Michael Floyd). He caught 32 passes, topping Tim Brown's previous mark of 28, and tallied four touchdowns.
The Jersey City, N.J., product ends his relatively disappointing career in South Bend with 86 receptions for 893 yards and nine TDs. John Goodman or Jones will likely start in his absence.
