Cam Newton: Dad will attend BCS game
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Cam Newton says his father will be attending the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game.
Auburn's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback says Cecil Newton and other family members "are going to be loud and proud."
Cecil Newton was involved in a pay-for-play attempt during his son's recruitment by Mississippi State that resulted in limiting his access to Auburn's athletic program.
Cam Newton mostly fielded questions Wednesday about football, his newfound celebrity status and his rise from a junior college national champion to college football's grandest stage.
Asked for the biggest difference from his first national title game, he waved a hand at the dozens of reporters and cameras surrounding his table and said, "This."
No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Oregon bring two of the most powerful and prolific offenses in the country into the national title game on Monday.
