Georgia backup QB out for season

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia backup quarterback D.J. Shockley will have knee surgery this week and miss the rest of the season.

Shockley, a sophomore, tore cartilage in his right knee during Oct. 11 against Tennessee. He faces six months of rehabilitation, which would keep him out of spring practice next year.

"He's going to have a surgery that will end the season for him," Georgia coach Mark Richt said.
