South Florida gives Leavitt extension through 2012
TAMPA, Fla. -- South Florida coach Jim Leavitt ended speculation that the Bulls' success in their first Big East season might land him a job elsewhere, agreeing to a contract extension through 2012 on Wednesday.
Leavitt, a former Kansas State assistant, is the only coach in the school's 10-year football history. Because of his ties to Kansas State, Leavitt had been mentioned as a possible candidate to succeed his former boss, Bill Snyder, who retired two weeks ago.
