Report: SMU QB suspended for violating team rules

SMU quarterback Justin Willis has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, The Dallas Morning News reported Friday.

Willis, a redshirt freshman, will not play against UT-El Paso on Saturday. Junior college transfer Corey Slater is expected to start in Willis' absence.

Brad Sutton, SMU assistant athletic director for media relations, declined to comment on specifics of the violation, the newspaper reported. Coach Phil Bennett did not immediately return phone calls.
