Zook receives contract extension

CHICAGO -- Illinois football coach Ron Zook received a one-year contract extension.

University trustees on Thursday approved the agreement, which will keep the fifth-year coach under contract with Illinois through January 2014.

The agreement does not include a raise. Zook makes a little more than $1.5 million a year.

Zook's last raise was in January 2008. That followed the Illini's surprise trip to the Rose Bowl and a 9-3 season.
