Report: Houston's Sumlin gets $7M deal

HOUSTON -- Houston coach Kevin Sumlin has agreed to a contract extension through the 2015 season.

The school said Monday the deal for an additional three years is pending approval by the Board of Regents.

The Houston Chronicle reported Sumlin had signed a deal worth $6.8 million, or $1.13 million annually. The deal includes $1 million in deferred compensation, according to the newspaper.

Sumlin's name was mentioned in connection with several BCS conference openings this offseason.
