Bret Bielema's extension approved

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema has had his five-year rollover contract extended through the 2015 season.

The school's athletic board on Friday approved recommendations for contract extensions for fall sports coaches, including Bielema. His new deal runs through Jan. 31, 2016.

Bielema is 49-16 in five seasons as Wisconsin's coach and guided the Badgers to a share of the 2010 Big Ten title and the program's first Rose Bowl appearance in 11 years.
