Navy, 2-6, hadn't beaten Army in seven years. In fact, no one had beaten the No. 2 Cadets in 28 games. But under new coach Eddie Erdelatz, the Midshipmen took the fight to their tormentors. Navy intercepted five passes by Bob Blaik, son of Army head coach Red Blaik, and held the Cadets to only five first downs. The 14-2 victory signaled change: Navy won 10 of the next 14 against its archrival.
