MAGIC HAT

Austin, Texas | Oct. 17, 1964

It's not as if Texas didn't prepare for Ken Hatfield's punt returns. The Arkansas back led the nation in 1963. In the second quarter of the '64 game, Hatfield gathered in a 47-yarder at the Hogs' 19. Behind a big block by Jim Lindsey on All-American linebacker Tommy Nobis, Hatfield broke to the sideline and raced 81 yards for a touchdown. Arkansas, a 14-13 winner, won a share of the national title.
