Orange Bowl

Miami | Jan. 1, 1969

Chuck Burkhart scored from 2 yards out in the final seconds of the 1969 Orange Bowl to pull Penn State within 14-13 of Kansas. Coach Joe Paterno's gutsy call for a two-point conversion failed when Burkhart's pass to Bob Campbell fell incomplete. However, officials flagged the Jayhawks for having 12 defenders on the field. Thus reprieved, Campbell converted the two-pointer on an end around. JoePa, say hello to the big time.
