DALLAS -- Texas can say goodbye to the Bowl Championship Series for another year.

The No. 6 Longhorns (10-2) needed an Oklahoma victory in the Big 12 title game Saturday night to get into the BCS with an at-large bid. But those hopes vanished with Kansas State's 35-7 upset of the Sooners.

As Big 12 champion, No. 13 Kansas State (11-3) gets the automatic BCS bid. No. 1 OU (12-1) is all but guaranteed an at-large bid because of its strength in the BCS ratings. No more than two teams from a conference can get into the BCS.

The bowl destination for Texas, which never has played in a BCS bowl, will be determined Sunday. Texas is in line for a berth in the Cotton Bowl, Holiday Bowl or Alamo Bowl.
