Kelly helped Grand Valley repeat as champs
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Brian Kelly was hired Tuesday as the football coach at Central Michigan.
Kelly, who led Grand Valley State to the past two Division II championships, replaces Mike DeBord.
Central Michigan finished 3-9 this season, and DeBord's four-year record at the school was 12-34.
On Wednesday, Grand Valley State defensive coordinator Chuck Martin was promoted to head coach.
"Chuck has done an outstanding job in his four years at Grand Valley State, and we are excited to have him lead our football program," athletic director Tim Selgo said.
The 2003 season was the 35-year-old Martin's first as the team's defensive coordinator.
